A Sign of the Times

Happy Tuesday Shoesday, all! We hope you had a lovely looooong holiday weekend! You know, it's a sign of the times when Starbucks brings out their Pumpkin Spice latte. Yes, that means that Autumn is upon us... and well, rumor has it that those tasty little beverages have already arrived in select stores! We're actually kind of excited for the crisp mornings & fall colors to roll in. We realize however that it's crucial to soak up any and every chance to wear cute shoes before the rotation of rain boots to snow boots begins.

We're crushing on this pair of taupe and blue-grey peep toe booties from Juicy Couture. Perfect for some Fall fun, right?

Revitalizing a classic

This Thursday Purseday is courtesy of Atlantic Pacific, our favorite blog for fashion inspiration. If you haven't visited, you MUST. This girl can pull off outfits like you've never seen and basically we want everything that she owns... including the Coach Classic Willis Bag. Don't you just adore this soft caramel leather for fall?

Yea, she pretty much rocks that purse with those fuchsia pants and the classic David Yurman chain necklaces. LOVE!!

You know what they say about diamonds...

They can be REALLY expensive! Well, that & they are a girls best friend. We fell in love with this gorgeous setting and then realized that it's a rough diamond, which means it hasn't been cut yet.

{via}

This particular ring from Diamond in the Rough is a whopping $35K, granted it was on the more pricey side of their stunning selection. What do you think- would you sport a rough diamond like this??

Meet Lucia K.

Happy Friday, darlings! Today you are in for a treat! Our friends from Lucia K. Jewelry stopped by to share some of their most beautiful creations with us. We adore perusing their site for fun hostess gift ideas or bridesmaids accessories.

Similar to us at Paper Moss, they do {AH-mazing} custom work for brides too! Check out this GORGEOUS necklace that was designed for one bride!

After seeing so many beautiful designs, we couldn't resist asking Kirsty Papdopulos, the woman behind Lucia K. a few questions about her company.

1. When did you start making jewelry?

I've been making jewelry for myself and friends and family for as long as I can remember. Those close to me have always encouraged me to take it a step further and start a business. It wasn't until about a year and a half ago -I was 8 months pregnant with my second child and had stopped working my "day job" and a jewelry buyer just happened to ask me about a necklace I was wearing that I had made, that is when it all came together and Lucia K was born.

2. What inspires your designs?

Inspiration comes from lots of places for me.  I definitely love to take cues from vintage pieces, and not necessarily jewelry. For instance, in the house I grew up, my parents had this crazy macramé side table, that hung from the ceiling, the beaded macramé influenced my crystal and silk necklaces in the Vivian lines and Nora lines.

I also have this amazing fabric and trim store near my house that I often just wander through, some of the stuff I happen upon there is incredible, the detail that used to go into textiles, definitely gets my creativity flowing. I keep my ultimate goal in mind- to help a woman elevate her style and make her feel more confident. She needs to feel great when she puts a piece of Lucia K. jewelry on!

3. Where do you find the materials that you use?

I definitely need to touch and feel and hold my materials, so I am very hands-on with what I decide to use. Something about an items weight or sheen, really play into how it works in a piece. With prices of metal going up, its difficult to keep costs down and still present a quality product. Some vendors that I return to time and again are Midori Ribbon, love their dupioni silk and grosgrain ribbons, their quality can't be matched, also Thai silver from the Hill tribe, Czech and Swarovski Crystals.

4. What are currently your favorite pieces?

The piece I am wearing most often - Ginger Copper Bib Necklace, the length works so well with so many necklines, the color is great for those who aren't quite ready for gold but want to branch out from silver, and it gets attention! Currently my favorite earrings are the Juliette Aquamarine Earrings or the Patricia Earrings- a little rocker mixed with freshwater pearls is a great combo. I'm loving big earrings right now, my fall line will be full of them!

And here are a few more of their beautiful pieces... check out the website for the full scoop!

Thank you so much to the lovely ladies at Lucia K. Jewelry for sharing some inspiration with us!

Tuesday Shoesday: Harp

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen: when we hear their names, it's only natural that pictures of little Michelle Tanner pop into our minds... why is that so hard to shake?! These two have definitely made a name for themselves as adults and even more recently with their label, Elizabeth and James. We're loving their looks across the board- from the eyewear & accessories to the gorgeous frocks and saucy shoes. Isn't this just the perfect ensemble?? undefined

These Elizabeth and James Harp Wedges would give any outfit a "wow" factor, right? And they're on sale right now... :)undefined *Photos courtesy of Style Extraordinaire, Zappos Couture

Chloé knows best

Today is thursday, which means 2 very exciting things:{1} It's Thursday purseday! Yay! {2} Tomorrow is Friiiiiiiday!

Without getting swept up in the rapidly approaching weekend, we're truly focusing on this make-me-melt Chloé bag. Doesn't the chain strap adds just the right amount of bling to balance out the preppy innocence of the bow? Now that we know how this beautiful brick tone and navy blue harmonize just perfectly, we'll be on the lookout for more from this duo when autumn arrives.

Happy Thursday, lovelies!

Living proof that dreams come true

The contents of this post have left me speechless. It is my Tuesday Shoesday pleasure to introduce Marissa, the first style from Day 2 Night Convertible Heels!!! The perfect solution for those of us car-less individuals who are constantly keeping flats in our purses or {dare I say} sacrificing style for comfort! These sleek peep-toes can take you from a 1.5" heel to a 3.5" heel {and between} with interchangeable heels. Candice Cabe, the woman behind this brilliant idea is said to be in "conversation" with Zappos.com and Steve Madden to expand, but for now the solo style is available on her main site.

OMG, can you believe it?

Well suited

If your man is in the market for a new suit {whether it be for your wedding, another wedding or a job interview} you simply can't miss these words of wisdom! Especially when it comes to the wedding party, the last thing you want is photos of the groomsmen in ill fitting attire. Of course, if the guys are renting a tux this won't be an issue, but it's becoming more and more common now for them to buy their suits. So, listen up on what Emily Post has to say about suit shopping: 1. Go to an established men's store where trained professionals are on staff. These experts are more knowledgeable about make, style, cut, and fit than most of us can ever hope to be. They can teach you the different between traditional, European, and athletic styles and which will work best for you. Yes, even if they're donning an all seersucker suit!

{via}

2. You should be aware of the following fit issues:

  • If it feels too tight, it probably is. You should be able to fit the flat of your hand in between your chest and the front of the jacket when buttoned and the back vents should lay flat.
  • If it feels a little big, it can probably be tailored: men's suits can often be taken in a full size.
  • Trousers should fit at the waist (one finger inside the waistband) so you have room when you sit.

{via}

3. The correct jacket length? Stand with your arms hanging naturally at your sides. The jacket should hit just under the curve of your derriere.

{via}

4. The sleeve of the jacket should hit where your wrist bends so that your shirt can poke out 1/8" to 1/4". {This guy knows what's up.}

{via}

5. Trousers: a "full break" is the bottom of the pant altered to hit 1" above the floor. Pleated trousers should have cuffs.

Happy suiting!

Wish you were here

All summer we've been on the search for the perfect textured tote that can tag along to the beach, go to the SoWa Sunday market or even fit for a casual dinner with friends. I think we've found it! The Wish You Were Here Tote {at under $50} fits all of the criteria- and mom would be so happy to know that it even zips shut at the top. You can never be too cautious, right?

As we were dreaming up the possibilities with said bag, we realized just how adorable it would be with the safari-inspired look that's been popping up all summer.

Now you're all ready for a safari! Ok, well maybe the attire isn't actually safari- appropriate, but if you decide to go on one, you'll be lookin' hot while making those travel arrangements!!

Brighten up

After being in 9 weddings, we're always on the search for cute bridesmaids dresses- it's now engrained in us. Whether bridesmaid-to-be or bride-to-be, it's always good to know your options. We're in L.O.V.E. with these new pops of color by Alfred Sung and just had to share! They would make such fun party dresses too!

Which one is your favorite? Some of them even come if white if you're on the lookout for a

reception or getaway dress...

Be Poetic

While going through the shoe closet the other day, I realized that there are several pairs that have been neglected. It would be SO much FUN to compulsively run to Saks with our current "must have" shoe list, however my wallet and sense of reason led me to think otherwise. So alas, what better way to revitalize a pair of flats or heels than to add one of these cute shoe clips by B.Poetic?! They add the perfect pop of color & style to that plain pair that's been shoved in the corner a little too long.

Hello, Evangeline

Several months ago, a dear friend of ours {on a whim} impulsively bought the Metallic Evangeline- quite possibly the best purchase of her life to date. It's a bronzy-gold shade of perfection and frankly: jaws drop, strangers stare and hearts sing when Evangeline is out. Yes, it's that amazing. Imagine our joy when we saw this little lady {Burnside Avenue Metallic Evangeline} that Kate introduced this summer. We're adding this little lady to the loooooong list of things we're lusting after from Kate Spade.

Baby got back

One trend that we've been adoring lately is backless wedding gowns. Seriously, it might just be the classiest way to show some skin and add variation in a way other than through the neckline or sleeves/straps. Whether you want a sleek, classic silhouette or full, romantic gathers of fabric, a backless {or low back} dress adds so much elegance! Don't you agree? Especially like this first one- covered in lace! Love! undefined

Just stop

Yes, it's sick to think about, but Fall will be here before we know it. As charming as the season can be in New England, it's so hard to welcome it with genuine excitement. So alas, we focus on the seasonally appropriate shoes. Meet these Peekaboo Slingbacks from Madewell- part of what is easing the idea that summer might be disappearing before it actually arrives. Cute, sassy & smart! They're unlike any shoes we own, but seriously, we love these!!
