Romantic fall wedding palette

We have been getting so many inquiries for next fall & winter lately! It's so fun to hear what couples are dreaming up for their big day. Being in the midst of some cold & crisp weather gets us so excited about the deep color palettes that people are working with. This monochromatic pairing of berry, eggplant & lilac is one of our favorites so far. We just keep picturing rich letterpress patterns and adding another pop of color with painted edges!!

Vintage + Natural Wedding Palette

Today we're excited to share a perfect for fall wedding color palette that we're absolutely in love with! You can never go wrong, pulling hues from nature and this round up was inspired by a grey blue sky, green grass and trees. Incorporating natural elements like foliage, wood & fibrous burlap ribbon can give an effortless but chic look. We've always been a fan of blue, but this shade of dusty blue is every bit calming and romantic!

Rose Gold Wedding Inspiration

With blush pink being such a prevalent color in the wedding industry these last couple of years, we should have suspected that it would soon pop up in it's metallic form- rose gold! We have had the joy of designing quite a few save the dates & invitation suites this year that feature this classy color in a letterpress method called foil printing. Regardless of what colors you pair it with {for stationery or other design elements} the warm elegance it adds is just gorgeous! We've seen it with grey, navy, black or simply shown below, with white...

4 wedding accessories you'll want

A lot of couples that we've been meeting with lately are working with bright and punchy palettes for their wedding day. I love the emphasis that this puts on the wedding being a celebration... and all of the fun & chic party ideas that come along with it. Leave it up to BHLDN to be a trend setter for some of our picks (those flamingos!) but wherever you look, there seems to be fun, colorful accessories popping up all around the wedding market.

From the Designer's Desk: NEON!

As a designer, my aesthetic for paper and print items is constantly being informed by seasons, feelings, what I ate in the morning, etc. This is our goal as an artist; To take in, synthesize, our external world and reimagine it into something that we created. A concept that I hold dear. Recently, I have been inspired by so many things. But this week (maybe this month......even this year??!), I have come to adore pops of neon!!

Neon comes from a Greek wording meaning "new". It is a gas that was discovered in 1898 as one of three residual rare inert elements remaining in dry air (after nitrogen, oxygen, argon and carbon dioxide are removed) . Neon was the second of three rare gases to be discovered and was immediately recognized as a new element from its bright red emission spectrum. We get our fantastic bright neon colors based on the emissions spectrum. I love that this is such a small way that science has been incorporated into design, fashion, and art.

Metallic foil & a summer glow

Lately we've been designing a lot of suites that feature the warm glow of metallic foil printing. You better believe we get pumped up about the yellow gold & rose gold color trends, but we're also seeing more silver lately. While we adore seeing designs letterpresses in these bold metallics, we also know that they represent the sun kissed summer palette that we're looking forward to! Since last weekend brought us our first GORGEOUS weekend of the year, we're planning our attack of all things bronzed & beautiful, and here's what is on our list:

A bright & juicy palette

Whether we're looking at variations of neon, bright sherbets or citrusy shades, we're LOVING the look of using a fun & punchy palette for the big day! There are so many fun ways to incorporate fruit into decor elements... yes, fruit. Rest assured, we're thinking beyond the formerly popular trend of adding some lemons to a clear vase! Citrus might seem like the last thing you'd consider, but here are just a few reasons why this element of nature is causing us to be so inspired:

A preppy + sophisticated palette

We've been working away on one beautiful navy & soft gold letterpress suite. We wouldn't dare share pics of the pretty paper yet, as it hasn't even been sent out to the guests but as we're diving into designing day- of accessories for this client, we're flooding with inspiration from the beautiful palette! In all it's preppy, sophisticated glory… don't you love it?!

We at Paper Moss, are excited to change things up! Today we are bringing you a new perspective of inspiration and creativity from the desk of the Paper Moss Design Team.

Hi everyone! I am Caitlin, a designer at Paper Moss. This week's inspiration from my desk is all about Spring. I for one love all the seasons, but cannot wait for the sunshine to come out after this very cold New England winter. I have been dreaming of cute dresses, fresh flowers and lots of color!

Lisa Hedge'swork on these Save the Dates is exactly what I needed to stir my creativity. They are simple and yet vibrant and alive. Hedge, an art director at Partner's & Spade is genius. Her work can be seen in our everyday, like J. Crew's website and sketches, as well as everyone's favorite eyeglass frame company: Warby Parker's. Hedge created their print branding to sync with their business model and simple store fronts. Her simple elegance is what I want to help reign in this coming season, as I de-clutter my mind and my closets and welcome spring.

I am in love with the mixing of a floral pattern with a stripe or a plaid like this outfit from On the Rack's Laura Ellner. As a savvy fashionista and stylist, I will take her advice on dress pairings any day.

Inspiration is everywhere, and spring isn't spring without flowers and walking outside and hearing the birds chirp. But why not bring that all inside and surround ourselves with nature wherever we are? Rubi from She Lets Her Hair Downinspired me to do just that, as she created a wall paper of sorts in her home. Flowers do not just have to be in a vase or jar to make a room feel more organic and bright. This could be a great way to showcase a deconstructed bridal bouquet!

I hope spring decides to come earlier this year so I can continue to be inspired by the colors and fresh florals of the season. What inspires you this week as the weather changes and the air starts to get warmer?

Color Crush: Winter White

There is something so peaceful and classic about soft, natural colors. Though etiquette used to say that wearing white after Labor Day {and before Memorial Day} was a faux pas, we're so thankful that the modern trends aren't adhering to it! We absolutely love winter white and couldn't resist putting together a little Color Crush board to prove it!!

Color Crush: Sea Foam

 

Coming back from the Holidays is always such a fun time for vendors in the wedding industry. While you're sifting through all the emails, you find that your inbox has a few more inquiries than normal. Something about Christmas says "Marry me", and I'm very okay with that. ;)

Most of our work right now has us thinking about summer weddings, ergo, dreamy sea foam inspiration board. How I love the sea. Are any of you taking Winter vacations this year?

Color Crush: Radiant Orchid

Last week, Pantone announced their pick for the 2014 color of the year. It has has received a lot of mixed reviews, but in all honesty, I really kinda like it. Pantone describes it as " an expressive, creative and embracing purple—one that draws you in with its beguiling charm. A captivating harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones." I think they are encouraging the use of more than just one color, and instead guiding towards a general palette to follow. My home office proudly sports an orchid on the desk near the window. It is resilient and lovely. A good reminder for when I am working into the wee hours of the night!

If nothing else, it makes for great mood boarding. I don't think I have ever had more fun making one! ;)

Ta-Daaa! As if you didn't already need a reason to peruse Pinterest, I now present to you a new, and slightly more swanky, Paper Moss Pinterest profile! It has been mad fun. How many people do you know who's job is to reorganize beautiful things all day? This girl took full advantage of it. There is pretty much everything a girl would need- house and home, style, design, palettes, and (of course) wedding inspiration to your little heart's content.

Color Crush: Coral

Admittedly, I have a love- hate relationship with this color. On one hand, I think it's fresh, versatile and fun but the artistic side of me hates it since there are SO MANY SHADES. Seriously. Every time I hear coral, I wonder: is it red coral, or more of a pink coral? Could it be more of an orange coral or neon coral? Heavens! That aside, I really do love the color... I promise!! Color crush: fuchsia + gold

Hi friends! I hope you had a lovely weekend!! Emily and I had a fabulous time with the ladies celebrating my bachelorette weekend at the Cape. There's nothing quite like good girl time. :) This week, we're kicking things off this this rich, feminine color combo that has me swooning. I love how elegant and feminine the contrast of fuchsia and shades of gold can be, especially that rose gold!! What do you think? Would you ever have these as your wedding colors?

Color Crush: pink + gold + peach

I'm totally digging soft color palettes right now and truth be told, it still baffles me that I would be the one incorporating the color blush into my wedding. Being the only girl with 2 older brothers, I desperately tried to fight the stereotype that pink should be my favorite color. I was so adamant about it that by the end of my time in elementary school, I hated the color. Oh how things have changed, my friends. I'm eager to embrace all things soft and romantic so let's kick off this week with some gorgeous warm hues- highlighting the summery palette of pink + gold + peach. Enjoy!

Over the last couple of weeks, my man and I were talking quite a lot about honeymoon spots. We're aiming for somewhere in the Caribbean and I am SO EXCITED because neither of us have been somewhere tropical. Crazy, right?! All this talk has made me dream of serene, bright blue water and pure relaxation. You know the kind of water I'm talking about...
