Weekend inspiration

Happy weekend, dear friends! What kind of shenanigans do you have up your sleeves these next few days? On our end, this is sure to be a weekend packed full of inspiration... between the massive amounts of snow we're expecting in Boston, Emily heading off to Pennsylvania {weather permitting} and me heading to Minnesota {yes, in the dead of winter}, we're full on anticipating the need for coziness.

Layer those sweaters!

Who'd have thought we'd ever get to this point?! Being a Seattle native, I'm pretty stinkin' nervous about getting owned by the chilly Minnesota temperatures so I'll be piling on sweaters in effort to not get frostbite. If you're somewhere that's expecting snow, join in the fun!

Have a cozy brunch!

Whether you're spending the weekend solo, with your honey or with your friends, make a delicious and carb filled brunch. Think of it as a mini-holiday and celebrate the fact that you can relax!

{via}

Make something rustic & wintery!

Tis the season for an easy DIY that is reminiscent of the great out doors, right?! We're loving these tree trunk coasters and it's a super easy craft for lazy weekend.

Happy relaxing!

Inspired By: Phillipa Lepley

I've never been the girl to dream of any future wedding details or play out the big day in my mind but I've always been a sucker for fancy dresses & anything fashion related. When this stunning photo popped up on my Pinterest page last year, I'll admit that there was a tiny little tug on my heartstrings. I mean seriously....

{via}

Get what I mean?! I was completely captivated by this gown and recently became set on tracking down the brilliant mind behind it. This determination led me to british designer, Phillipa Lepley whom, we {as Paper Moss} are now obsessed with. This gal has got talent! Just looking at her designs... the luxe fabrics, textures, intricate detailing, stunning lines... is enough to send our mind soaring and be a solid source of inspiration for the week...

Weekend Inspiration

Happy Friday!! Whether you're a football fan or not, chances are you'll be seeing or hearing about the big game on Sunday.

{via}

It's almost unavoidable {not that we've tried} so we're embracing the opportunity to tap into our inner domestic goddess. Which brings me to these recipes & snacks that I've been dying to try.

{1} Guac

{2} Black Bean Sliders

{3} Baked Potato Rounds

{4} Crudite Shooters

I'm always on the search to improve my guac recipe... and the black bean sliders sound like perfection! What will you be cooking up for the festivities this weekend? And more importantly, will the Ravens crush the 49ers?!

Weekend Inspiration

Wine pairing!

Chocolate & wine: these are a few of our favorite things! Soak up some of these pairing guidelines and get swirling and sipping with some friends this weekend.

{via}

Send some snail mail!

My dear brother and sister-in-law gifted me this fun box of Jonathan Adler stationery for my birthday. The cards are bright, punchy & witty... and couldn't possibly be cuter! This weekend, we're inspired to go old school and send a friend some snail mail! Jump on the bandwagon!

{via; via}

Sport a snood!

What is a snood, you ask? A scarf variation that is completely trending right now!! Honestly, we're looking for anything to help fight against the below freezing temps and these are just stinkin' adorable! We're especially digging this one from Topshop!

Happy weekending!

Weekend Inspiration

The weekend is so close we can taste it! What do you have up your sleeves for the next three days?? Here's what we're up to... all the while, searching for inspiration in every beat.

Bundle up!

We laugh in the face of mother nature, who is fighting our desire to have fun! According to my weather app, it "feels like" 6 degrees and we will rise to the occasion to pile on layers of our warmest clothes and don some of the sassiest earmuffs we can find.

{via}

Crank up some good tunes!

Some super talented friends from Seattle are coming through to play a show in Boston. Needless to say, Emily & I are jumping up and down, excited to catch up with one of our dearest dudes, but we're {almost} equally as excited to get our dance on to the tunes of Allen Stone. Check him out!!! And, you're welcome.

{via}

Do Something Meaningful!

In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. day, we're challenged to jump out of our comfort zone and serve others. Since 1994, MLK day has been recognized as a National Day of Service. Find a project in your area or be creative and come up with a way to serve others on your own! Either way, let's celebrate and honor the freedom and equality that Dr. King fought for.

Have a fabulous weekend!! xoxo

Weekend Inspiration

It's Friday alas, darlings! What do you have planned for the weekend? We're just itching to get out of the house, to try something new and to think out side of the box. Here are some suggestions for an inspiration filled weekend...

Get Crafty!

We love this super easy DIY to create some Kate Spade-esque mugs. You simply can't go wrong with gold polka dots!

{via}

Fire up that stove!

I've fallen in love with this Kale, White Bean & Butternut Squash soup that Emily made a few weeks back. Seriously, it's delicious and it's actually healthy! Perfect comfort food for the season! Give it a try!!

{via}

Get walkin'!

Go for a winter walk... no matter how cold it is! Insanity I know, but bundle up and experience the winter weather and reflect on your start to 2013. How are those resolutions coming along?

{via}

Have a fabulously inspiring weekend!!!

Giving thanks

The fabulous thing about November is that the entire month has a vibrant undertone of THANKFULNESS. I don't know about you, but it's been so refreshing to see on Facebook and Instagram, people posting about things and people that mean the most to them. Seriously, we're just super thankful for this time of year and the opportunity to be surrounded with optimism and encouragement.

{via}

While we're all gearing up to feast on delicious food this week, we're thankful for the opportunity to try our hand at some new recipes. We're feeling a little adventurous and determined to perfect some pies this season... and these little mason jar pies are the challenge of the week.

{via}

And how cute are these festive pie cutters from Williams-Sonoma?! With how much we obsess over details, we think these little leaves couldn't be a cuter addition to a Thanksgiving dessert. What recipes do you have your eyes on this year??

Soft + feminine

I must admit that when I first laid eyes on these soft pink beauties, I was brought back to my visions of my wedding as a little girl. These surely would have been the dream shoes... and though being super girly isn't necessarily our thing, these might still be considered timeless. What do you think??

 {via}

With all of the fuss from these voluminous tulle rosettes, we've got tulle on the mind and are so thankful that it has made a classy comeback. There are so many whimsical, romantic ideas for how to incorporate this sheer fabric into a wedding or reception... here's a wee bit of inspiration to get those wheels turning...

Fall faves!

Since moving into New England, fall is pulling rank and could possibly be considered our favorite season. As we finish off October, there are a few things that we're looking forward to for the latter half/ colder half of autumn. We'll share our list with YOU, but we're also dying to know what you're most looking forward to... :)

{1} Feasting on Pumpkin Ricotta Gnocchi

{2} Crafting Monogrammed pumpkins for a festive little decoration

{3} Crunching brightly colored fall leaves

{4} Cozying up in a warm, chunky blanket

{5} Sipping on the occasional Spiked Cider

{6} Hosting festive get-together... and seizing the chance for a seasonal table scape

DIY: Pretty pumpkins

Hey friends! How was your weekend? Did you have a chance to do something super festive? In the midst of fighting off this darn cold, we took advantage of the gorgeous weather on Saturday and drove up north to explore Rockport. While the intention of this excursion wasn't to go leaf peeping, it was impossible not to be captivated by all of the firey colors that lined the highways and accented this cute little beach town. Fall in New England is simply the best. :) Now that some serious autumn inspiration was ignited over the weekend, it's time to tackle the first DIY of the season:

Completely adorable, right?! Get the "how-to" over on Twig & Thistle and spice up your fall decor! Happy crafting!

White wedding

Our time in New York was a blast, but we're so glad to be back in Boston! On Monday night we had the chance to get all fancified & go to The Knot's bridal gala as well as the 11th Annual Martha Stewart bridal market party. Both parties were so fun and we're humbled at the chance to go and be able to network with some of our wedding industry heroes! Nerdy? Absolutely. :) We're still crushing over the all white theme that Martha's staff used to transform the blank canvas of their warehouse. The highlight of the night? A surprise wedding was performed by Martha Stewart herself... and we just loved all of the clean, crisp white details that made the bride & groom glow. So this begs the question- what do you think of an all white wedding?

Wedding inspiration: red + teal + gold

Happy Wedding Wednesday!! Today, we figured it's only appropriate to highlight this gorgeous Seattle wedding that perfectly balances the elegance and character of the city, while still reflecting the couple. With a dream team of local vendors, headed up by Solomon Event Planning, Marnie & Jamie put together the day of their dreams using teal, deep red, gold and lots of glowing lights. Though their celebration was on New Years eve, there was nothing overly "festive", which is one of the many reasons we adore it.

Everything about this wedding is timeless, yet still has loads of character. And how sweet is this umbrella?!

Seattle bound

Mmmonday! Alas, the week is here. As mentioned last week, I {Anna} am packing up and heading west for the next 8 days. Quite the adventure awaits me starting in Seattle and I couldn't be more excited! As much as I adore living in Boston, there is something so comforting & calming about my home town. Yes, the lack of vitamin D and emo-culture largely contributes to the aforementioned calming effect, but spending time with some of the sweetest friends a girl could hope for is what I'm most excited for. Who am I kidding, I'd be happy bundled up inside talking for hours on end... but we'll likely be hitting up the favorite Seattle spots, some of which include the following:

{clockwise from top left: Cafe Vita; gum wall; Dick's Drive in; Pike PlaceGreat Seattle Wheel; Molly Moon; Fremont Troll; Elephant Car Wash; Fremont signs; Easy Street Records}

Yes, while sipping on the city's finest coffee, we'll play tourist and admire the quirky iconic signage, oooh and awe over how stunning Mt. Rainier looks and soak in every ounce of northwest culture that I can handle. The Great Seattle Wheel will be one of the first stops.

For those of you who have never ventured to Seattle, it's a must see! This city guide I stumbled upon over on Elephantine Blog is a fantastic place to start picking apart the city, neighborhood by neighborhood. Ciao for now!

The Venice Biennale

Art, Architecture, Cinema, Dance, Music, Theater, oh my!! Having been around for over a century the Venice Biennale is one of the most prestigious cultural institutions in the world promoting avant-garde and contemporary art. This year’s festival and exhibitions are just teeming with design and inspiration on so many levels!! Looking at what these creative minds have showcased from all around the world is unbelievable! You can’t help but feel inspired by what they done, and it’s giving us loads of motivation and inspiration to try something new. From the Russians “i-city” to Norman Fosters ‘Gateway’ exhibition and the dance performance of 'Awakenings' these are just a few highlights from this year’s festival.

I hope to go one of these years! What venue would you go see??

Let's Get Together

Summer may still be here, but as August is underway fall will soon be knocking on our door. Rather than think about colder weather, we'd much prefer to think about all the time we have left to bask in the heat! So we thought we’d share these fabulous outdoor spaces perfect for hosting end of summer gatherings and to just relax in while taking in a few extra rays of sunshine this August.

{via}

After seeing these, we couldn’t help but feel the urge to get outside and do a little revamping ourselves. It's the perfect excuse to have a get together! What would you do with your outdoor space?

Friday Faves

Happy Friday!! In honor of the weekend, we figured it's only appropriate to round up a couple of our favorite ideas that we stumbled upon this week and pay tribute to the other creative minds that inspire us! Soooooo, here goes:

1. Throw some sequins into a clear vase with water to fancify a centerpiece!

{via}

2. Sip on some Sparkling Strawberry Sangria

{via}

3. Try a different mode of transportation

Have a pretty weekend!! xo

Alexander Girard

Early this summer when I found out that Herman Miller was releasing five re-edition textiles and an extensive vintage collection by the iconic designer, Alexander Girard, I could not have been more excited and wanted to share the good news!! The name may not be familiar but his work definitely is.  In recent years you could have seen his designs pop-up anywhere from Kate Spade bags, Urban Outfitter collections to Jonathan Adler wallpaper. His bold and playful use of color, geometry and graphics bring warmth, charm and humor into any living space. His prints and textiles may have been created during the 50's, 60's and 70’s, but they fit perfectly into the modern home today.  They are definitely inspiring us to go a little retro today!

Would you rock these retro designs in your home?

Chanel nesting purse

Happy Thursday, lovelies! Is it just me or is this week FLYING by? Tuesday's shoesday pick reminded us of this Chanel Nesting Doll purse that we saw long ago, so naturally, why stop at one Matroyshka post when they're so stinkin' cute? We can't help but wonder what prompted Christian Louboutin to design this little purse for Chanel's 2009 fall collection...

{via}

So this got us looking around at some of the other nesting dolls that people are creating these days. It seems that there's one for everything and that's kind of awesome. Who knew that this Russian tradition would become such a unique art form around the world? Take a peek at some of our favorite finds...

1- Chalkboard Nesting Dolls

2- Owl Nesting Dolls

3- Circus Nesting Dolls

4- Northern Maiden Nesting Dolls

5- Robot Nesting Dolls

6- Geometric Nesting Dolls

Hideaway in Santorini

On this happy Monday we are excited to bring you the first of several Honeymoon Hotspot features!! I (Paper Moss intern, Lyndse) personally love architecture, design and travel. So what better way to combine all of these than to provide some truly amazing destination getaways for your viewing pleasure. Santorini, Greece with its surreal landscape and relaxed vibe is definitely a place worth dreaming about, and so is the Perivolas Hotel.  This tranquil getaway outside of Oia sits high up on a cliff overlooking the Aegean Sea.  Really, can it get any better??  The traditional rock carved rooms and whitewashed walls give you a taste of the local architecture and it seems only appropriate with its long-standing history in Greece, that lavender be the color of choice to brighten up each room.  Also on site are their infinity pool, restaurant and wellness studio. Yes please!  Needless to say, the location provides breathtaking views day and night.

(And if you truly want to escape everything, their companion hotel Perivolas Hideaway is so secluded that it is only accessible by boat.  You truly will feel as if you are the only ones around. Just be warned, you may never want to leave.)

{via}

While there you might also want to try these fun activities around the island:

Spend an evening at the open air cinema in Kamari, visit Santo Winery and enjoy tasting the local grapes (they even host weddings), take a day to explore the local cities Oia and Fiori, and of course you can’t visit Greece without going to the beach.  To catch some rays head to Perissa or Vlychada beach, and if you’re up for a little adrenaline kick, Amoudi Bay offers great spots for cliff jumping.

 {clockwise from top left via, via, via, via, via, via, via}

Or just put your feet up, frappe in hand and take in the view. Would you consider Santorini for your Honeymoon Hotspot??  Happy Honeymooning!

Hello sunshine!

Over the weekend we attended a wedding that was perfectly prim & preppy with navy, khaki and yellow all over. It got us thinking, and after spending the last couple of weeks honing in on all of the shades and tones of yellow, we've concluded that this color is one of our faves for summer 2012. It's no tangerine tango, but rather its sunny, citrusy neighbor on the color wheel. Whether it be a dress, a painted door, a lemon flavored treat or rays of sunshine, we just can't get enough!!!

Are you with us in this adoration?
