4 wedding accessories you'll want

A lot of couples that we've been meeting with lately are working with bright and punchy palettes for their wedding day. I love the emphasis that this puts on the wedding being a celebration... and all of the fun & chic party ideas that come along with it. Leave it up to BHLDN to be a trend setter for some of our picks (those flamingos!) but wherever you look, there seems to be fun, colorful accessories popping up all around the wedding market.

Decoding escort cards & place cards

Lately, we've been getting a lot of questions about the proper etiquette of escort cards and place cards. There is no better time than NOW, to clarify when to use which type of card {they're often confused} and address some of the minutia, in effort to make that aspect of the wedding planning process easier. This chart is a starting point to tackle some commonly asked questions:

Happy planning!

A preppy + sophisticated palette

We've been working away on one beautiful navy & soft gold letterpress suite. We wouldn't dare share pics of the pretty paper yet, as it hasn't even been sent out to the guests but as we're diving into designing day- of accessories for this client, we're flooding with inspiration from the beautiful palette! In all it's preppy, sophisticated glory… don't you love it?!

Happy Monday, friends! I hope you had a lovely weekend, and that you're having an even LOVELIER start to your week. Today is a soggy, rainy day in Boston and we're cheering ourselves up with some pretty floral ideas to tie into the wedding day. Hearing about the details that our couples are planning is always so fun- there are endless ways to make the day unique!! This little round up would be a perfect combination for an outdoor, garden wedding… or any one of these would be an elegant accent to a classic or rustic wedding.

Regardless of your style, we hope you enjoy! Oh and this blog post including the photo of the floral ampersand is SO COOL for those who are into typography!

Versatility at it's best

Finding the perfect bridesmaids dress to suit all of your besties' body shapes is quite the challenge… if not impossible. Thank heavens the trend of mixing & matching dresses is still prevalent but sometimes that takes more work than a bride to be has time for. I would have loved to do that for my own wedding, but with a 4.5 month turn around, we were pushing it from the start! Luckily the brilliant minds at BHLDN created the Annabelle dress, one gown with seven beautiful ways to wear it. Shown here in the Goddess style in soft plum:

To be fair {and incase you haven't already heard about it} we wanted to show you all the pretty styles straight from the makers website. Which one is your favorite?

A green garden wedding

We're just wrapping up designs for a beautiful grass green letterpress, garden inspired invitation suite. Going through the design process with these sweet clients has been more than fun and getting the play by play as wedding weekend events develop, has helped us ensure that the paper goods accurately set the scene. Our heads are swirling with lush florals, lots of natural textures and dreams of a Sunday brunch in the bride's parents garden… so we couldn't resist putting together some inspiration!

We'll be sure to share photos of the pretty stationery when it come back from print!

That little piece of lace

When it comes to shopping for wedding day accessories, one thing that I spent a long time searching for was the perfect garter. Even though my man was adamant about not doing the traditional toss, I still wanted something pretty, sexy & sentimental for the big day. If you're a bride to be or even a former bride, please share where you found your little bit of lace!!

We're total suckers for detail shots and think there is nothing sweeter than a shot of some of the personal things that aren't shown in the rest of those wedding photos. Capturing a scent is key… whatever perfume you wear will always bring back the memories of such a special day!

Happy Wedding Wednesday!

A reflection of you

When I was planning my wedding, the one thing that made me feel over the top anxious, was feeling like the day wasn't going to be a reflection of my man and I. We're very laid back and love being silly, but we ended up having an elegant evening wedding  with a sit down dinner. Everything came together perfectly and it was nothing short of gorgeous, but it's hard to resist dreaming of what it would have been like if things were a bit more casual. I'm loving the idea of incorporating natural elements without being over the top… or "granola". What do you think?

Wedding tresses

How about some hair inspiration for your Wedding Wednesday? We think so too. It was by complete accident that most of these ended up falling under the "whimsical yet classy" look, but we're embracing it. There are some Christmas parties that we will be attending this weekend that are calling for "festive" attire, so naturally there will be hairstyling and dress swapings and all those girly party things. Everything is prettier during the Holidays. :)

See more wedding hair inspiration over on our Pinterest board!

Because You Needed Some Sass on your Wednesday

We have been talking about Fall trends in the office, naturally, and we decided that sometimes the Fall wedding inspiration out there isn't always the most inspiring. (If ya know what I mean.) However. I dug through the inspiration mecca (AKA, Pinterest) and found that denim jackets are a thing. For weddings. Why did we not think of this before?? It is so carefree and fun. Add some red lipstick and you are a force to be reckoned with. It is your party after all, you should enjoy it. ;)

Something Savory

Hello pretty Paper Moss readers! Coming at you today is a treasure trove of savory goodness. I love food, as made perfectly clear by my blog

1 2 3 4 5 6

I came across this article on the knot, and it got me thinking. Why not think up some Fall menu ideas for a wedding? We love Wedding Wednesdays, and we love food, especially pretty food, so here we go! The prettiest, savoriest, yummiest looking post Wedding Wednesdays have ever seen. There is a seriously good looking menu here...

And I mean, they don't have to be just for a wedding.... ;)

World Wedding Cultures

This week's Wedding Wednesday is full of culture, and tradition, and love, and red. Yes, red. While doing some research for this post, I found that there are a lot of cultures that use red as their special day.

WEDDING 1 2 3 4

In Indian culture (specifically Hindu ceremonies), brides traditionally wear red saris, as they symbolize new life and good luck. A necklace is also given to the bride to signify her new marital status. And the groom? He gets to wear a turban with a veil of flowers.

Like Hindu weddings, traditional Chinese weddings favor the color red for their ceremonies. In China, red represents love, joy, and prosperity. Everything from the bride's dress, to the invitations, to the day-of home decor.

Mexican weddings have one of my favorite things for their receptions: a piñata! During the couple's first dance, the weddings guests form a heart around them as they dance. How sweet. :)

Like any good Russian celebration, the weddings are full of drinks and fun. After the first toast by a close friend or family member, everyone throws their champagne glasses on the ground.

It's not that Kate and William didn't do a good job of showing us what a true British wedding looks like- I just wanted to do some digging. Did you know that British bridesmaids always wear white? Also, the top layer of the wedding cake is often used for the christening of the couple's first child. So long 1 year anniversary cake, we'll see ya after we've got a bun in the oven.

Now go celebrate your new cultured self by watching a foreign film. Maybe Kung-Fu, or Bollywood, or Doctor Zhivago. (Okay, maybe not the last one...)

Feeling Woodsy

Seeing as it fully Fall here in Boston, we decided to dive into some Fall inspiration again this week for Wedding Wednesday! And we're loving it. Muted hues, woodsy textures, whimsical, dreamy-like loveliness. We think that the forest-elegance vibe is still shamelessly classy even when you're wedding in the woods! If you're thinking about going this route for your special day, stick with neutrals and muted hues to blend your decor with your venue. Matching is a happy thing. Also, don't be afraid to try out new things like a flower crown or naked cake. If you haven't had naked cake yet, then, well, get on it! Can cake really let you down?
