Color Crush: Emerald

We've been hearing about it for months now: emerald is the Pantone color of the year for 2013. We're ridiculously in love with these bold jewel tones that are trending and are psyched to have recently completed our first emerald invite for 2013. Scouring the internet and Pinterest for inspiration made us crush on this color all the more. Please, pretty please join in our obsession:

trending + loving: Purple

We were psyched {to say the least} when perusing Martha Stewart Weddings the other day and we noticed that low and behold, PURPLE is coming back as a wedding color trend. Now we know there are some haters out there, but please, keep an open mind and just imagine how many directions you can go with this hue. Whether it's a an elegant, regal affair or a rustic autumn gathering, purple is a versatile go-to. Pull together various shades and textures of linens, florals, paper, treats... and don't forget lighting, to really rock this monochromatic color scheme. See why we're loving it??? What do you think?

Color Crush: teal + coral + yellow

More and more we're finding that brides don't have two main wedding colors any more, but rather an entire palette. This is one trend that we're hoping sticks around for a long time. One sunny combo that we've been crushing on is teal + coral + yellow with white or champagne as a base. So elegant, feminine and fun, don't you agree?

Depending on the tones, this palette can be used in spring, summer and even fall... which is an awesome alternative to the standard autumn colors!!

A pop of raspberry

I recently met with a bride & groom who were using raspberry as their primary wedding color. As we started talking through ideas for how to incorporate this vibrant pop of color, I fell in love with the elegance and sophisticated contrast with black tuxes and a frothy white gown. Whether you have a simple 3-color palette as theirs or rope in yellow, teal or other berry shades, raspberry is proving to be one of our favorite wedding colors right now!!

Hello sunshine!

Over the weekend we attended a wedding that was perfectly prim & preppy with navy, khaki and yellow all over. It got us thinking, and after spending the last couple of weeks honing in on all of the shades and tones of yellow, we've concluded that this color is one of our faves for summer 2012. It's no tangerine tango, but rather its sunny, citrusy neighbor on the color wheel. Whether it be a dress, a painted door, a lemon flavored treat or rays of sunshine, we just can't get enough!!!

Are you with us in this adoration?

Sea glass

One of our absolute FAVORITE color palettes for weddings this year is "sea glass". Fresh, soft and delicate... but not too feminine, which keeps those grooms happy. :) As of late, we've been submersed in all things glassy, mint, aqua, celadon and shimmery while tapping into this palette to design a current client's wedding stationery. We can't wait to share more once it's finished of course, but until then, please enjoy some of our inspiration...

Minty fresh

Mint is everywhere these days and THANK GOODNESS for that because it puts such a crisp and fresh spin on things. While some of the innovative fashionistas have been rocking shades of mint for months already, the rest of us are just catching the fever. In honor of Thursday Purseday, we think these mint clutches are just to die for and they're the perfect way to start incorporating mint into your wardrobe!

Neon yellow shoesday picks

Happy Tuesday shoesday! We're still on the hunt for neon and in the midst of our love for neon yellow we ran across these adorable  Marni polka-dot leather ballet flats that we're kind of obsessed over. In our opinion, they have the perfect amount of pizzaz with the brown to keep things balanced and not too extreme... oh and the perfectly pointed, yet slightly rounded toe? Yes, that makes these even more beautiful in our eyes!

As if that's not enough, there are a plethora of adorable options of neon yellow + brown/ beige in all shapes, styles and heights! Which pair would be your pick?

Neon, neon

Just saying the word "neon" fondly reminds us of John Mayer's pre-Jennifer Aniston days. Do you remember that song?! Despite his womanizing tendencies, that whole album {Room for Squares} is how he first won our musical approval. All that to say, it's time the song made it back into the playlist while we're donning the current trend of.... neon yellow! Yes thats right, we've been seeing it everywhere! Electric and punchy shades in shoes, handbags, frocks, and accessories. It took awhile to buy in to the trend, but it's totally growing on us. What do you think? Would you ever tote around a bright neon bag such as this shoulder bag from Marc by Marc Jacobs?

Wedding Inspiration: Fiery Ombre

Yes, Valentine's Day has long passed but we're still obsessing over the monochromatic wedding color palette of pinks, reds and purple. How great is it that these warm to cool ombre tones are no longer solely associated with that one day each year, but yet when put together they create a firey, romantic glow that would be perfect for the big day. And the best part? While there's without a doubt a romantic vibe, things are still light and fun... not over the top! What do you think- would you ever consider this palette {or an ombre spin on your own palette} for your wedding?

Color Blocking

Happy Thursday Purseday, everyone! We're pretty pumped about the vibrant colors we're seeing for spring and summer fashion. Seriously after some grey winter weather, all we want is to see bright & happy colors, patterns and.... people. Don't you?? Here's a round up of some drool-worthy wristlets in these punchy colors that we're obsessing over. Which one would you choose?!

Pretty Inviting

It's Wedding Wednesday {YAY!!!} and we wanted to take this opportunity to share another pattern laden creation... this time however, it was created by us! It was so much fun working with Carolyn and Chris to create their Tory Burch inspired letterpress invitation suite. We sprinkled in some nautical touches to highlight the gorgeous venue they were to be wed at... the Ocean House in Watch Hill, RI. Everything about this suite is screaming of an elegant preppy beach soiree- which is exactly what the wedding was... every last perfect detail. *Photos courtesy of Laura Ashbrook Photography

The trendy fruit

HAPPY FRIDAY! Honestly, I'm a little sad that the weekend is here {#ilovemyjob} but who doesn't need a few days of relaxation and errand running to get caught up?! Hopefully you have some fun plans in store?? For the last few months, we've been hearing left and right that one of the hottest colors for 2012 is "Tangerine Tango". Not only is the name just adorbs, but the color is so vibrant and fun. While the actual Tangerine Tango is a specific shade, we're embracing all that is orange and loving every bit of it...

Pretty purple!

After recently finishing some gorgeous Save the Dates for one of our international clients, we just keep coming back to their pretty purple color palette. We've been loving all the shades and just CAN'T GET ENOUGH! Seriously, what a perfect way to transition from summer {with a light shimmery lilac} to fall {with a spunky reddish plum}?

Coral & Smoky gray: the perfect palette between summer & fall

I'm ecstatic to share that we {Paper Moss} just mailed off a gorgeous, elegant & modern smoky gray and coral invitation suite to a beaming bride and her fiancé. Yes, that beaming bride happens to be my {Anna's} soon-to-be sister in law and that fiancé of hers happens to be one of the greatest older brothers to walk this earth. :) I'm biased & completely blessed!! Take a gander at the color palette for their September day... a perfect combination to transition out of summer & into fall! undefined

Seems like yesterday Paper Moss clients Kit & Nate tied the knot! Designing their letterpress invitation suite was just so much fun-- and the color combo {one of the greatest for the season} paired with their designs was perfect! Monday muffins

Sometimes we think of our food in terms of Pantone chips. Yes, it sounds a little crazy- but we prefer to think of it as "quirky" or "endearing" which sounds way less threatening than "crazy". Case and point:

Emily made us delicious Gluten Free Blueberry muffins for our Monday morning meeting, so I couldn't resist running with the inspiration... and if you're in the Gluten Free Club {or know someone who is} check out the yummy recipe below!

Now if you're sufficiently inspired to get some blueberries, here is that delicious recipe from Dinner with Julie...

10 Tbsp. butter, softened 1 cup sugar grated zest of a lemon 2 large eggs 3 cups gluten-free flour blend (or 1 cup sweet white sorghum flour, 1 cup white rice flour and 1 cup tapioca flour) 1 ½ tsp. baking powder ½ tsp. baking soda ½ tsp. salt 1 ½ cups plain yogurt 1 cup fresh or frozen (don’t thaw them) blueberries, raspberries, Saskatoon berries, blackberries.. or diced peaches, pears, apples, whatever you have that you want in your muffin

Sugar, for sprinkling

Preheat the oven to 375F.

In a large bowl, cream the butter, sugar and lemon zest together with a spatula. (If you beat the mixture for awhile with an electric mixer, the muffins will not rise – stick to doing it by hand.) Add the eggs one at a time, mixing after each.

Add a cup of the flour along with the baking powder, soda and salt, and mix well. Add half the yogurt and stir until combined, then another third of the flour, the rest of the yogurt and the rest of the flour. Stir in the berries, or whatever fruit you want to use.

Divide the batter among muffin tins that have been lined with paper liners or sprayed with nonstick spray, filling them. (You’ll get about 18-20 muffins.) Sprinkle the tops with sugar and bake for 25-30 minutes, until golden and springy to the touch.

Makes about 1 1/2 dozen muffins.

Pretty Pink

Pink. Some love it, some hate it. Right now, we are loving the color- can't get enough, in fact. Besides being cheerful, it is said to increase energy and encourage action and confidence. Why does that not come as a surprise when we think of our beloved friends who have obsessed over this color for years... they are some of the most energetic and positive people!
