Sea glass

One of our absolute FAVORITE color palettes for weddings this year is "sea glass". Fresh, soft and delicate... but not too feminine, which keeps those grooms happy. :) As of late, we've been submersed in all things glassy, mint, aqua, celadon and shimmery while tapping into this palette to design a current client's wedding stationery. We can't wait to share more once it's finished of course, but until then, please enjoy some of our inspiration...

Real Weddings: Becca & Dan

We have some great news today! You may remember seeing a fabulous navy & fairway green invitation suite that we featured several weeks ago... well, our sweet bride and her photographer, Melissa Robotti were kind enough to share some detail shots from the big day! Hope you enjoy & feel equally as inspired by these fun photos- we just adore the classic nautical flare that Wychmere Harbor Club is so loved for!

Amazing, right?! We just love that ballroom too! Congrats to Becca & Dan and thanks so much for sharing your wedding day with us!

Fresh fruit decor

With so many bright and fresh colors being seen in weddings these days, we're loving the idea of using fruit to add those pops of color! How fun and easy is it to pop over to your local market and pick up a case of lemons or oranges for escort cards?! Or even using fruit as a snack or take away for guests? As much as we love snacking on sugary sweet things, fruit would be just as fun!

What do you think... would you use fruit to freshen things up on your big day? What kind of fruit would best accent your color palette?

Wedding registry tips

While talking with some friends the other day, we were reminded that wedding registry isn't always "fun" but it can also be super stressful for many brides and grooms. This wedding registry checklist is a great place to start tackling that task, but we also pulled together a list of our top 10 registry tips to share:

And don't be afraid to get creative with those thank you cards! We love making custom thank you postcards & including wedding day photos when the couple is holding their "thank you". So fun!

Designer Spotlight: Romona Keveza

After falling madly in love with one of Romona Keveza's couture gowns, I {Anna} frantically hopped on her website to peruse the oldest of her collection. To my surprise each of her Fall Collections included some extravagant blue gowns, ranging from creamy pastel shades to aqua. Soooo, what if that "something blue" you rocked on the big day was your wedding gown? Would you ever dare?!

{via Martha Stewart Weddings}

This one indeed makes me consider it, but here are some other works of art to help you mull it over.

{via}

Personally I'm not a fan of the blue, but oh that doesn't stop me from drooling over her designs... regardless of color, these dresses are incredible!

And of course, I can't NOT share the one that started this whole thing...

I love every single silky ruffle & the crisp, elegant lines. Swoon!

A sweet celebration

For some of us, a celebration just isn't a celebration without ice cream. This is one thing on the "must-have" list for my {Anna} future big day. There are endless ideas for how to execute this... from filled mason jars sitting on ice, to tray passed mini-cones, to bringing in a classic ice-cream truck... but thanks to an inspiration shoot featured on 100 Layer Cake, I've completely fallen in love with the idea of tray passed sundaes in vintage martini glasses!

Delicious and stunning! What is your favorite cake alternative dessert?

Wedding decor: bottles + jars

Dreaming up wedding decor ideas can be pretty overwhelming... there are way too many fun ideas! Lately, we're loving the idea of mixing various bottles and jars {especially when they vary in shape and/or color} and using them as centerpieces, place settings, favors, aisle decorations and our personal favorite- hanging vases!

{clockwise from top left: via; via; via; via; via}

Often popping just one or two flowers in each bottle will suffice so rather than putting your money into flowers {beautiful & sweet smelling as they are, they will die} you can highlight those pops of color with romantic glass which will sparkle against candle light at night. Scour second hand stores, antique stores and ask your friends to set aside any glass jars they run into. After the big day is over, you'll have your choice of which vases you want to keep and the others can simply be given away or recycled.

Pretty Paper: Metallic orchid & soft white

Somehow our beloved clients, Sarah & Zack managed to dream up the perfect balance of whimsy & modern flair for their big day. If you haven't seen their wedding feature on Style Me Pretty Massachusetts, you must take a peek! We're still swooning over their gorgeous letterpress invitation suite that set the tone for this glamorous event- perfectly combining a geometric pattern, their quirky monogram and a silhouette of the Newport bridge since their wedding was at Belle Mer. Working with this couple was just so much fun and we are beyond excited with the custom stationery we created together. Oh, and those custom stamps... they were that juicy little cherry on top!!

A Shoesday Save the Date

Today we're taking a break on crushing on shoes we want oh-so-badly, and rather wanted to share this adorable save the date idea. What an easy photo to work into your engagement shoot... and it's so stinkin' cute! We think this pic would be perfect on the front of one of a custom save the date postcard! ;)

And by the way, congrats to the couple in the photo who recently tied the knot!!!

Pretty paper wedding bouquets

There's no denying that there's something special & sweet about having a bouquet of fresh blooms to accompany you down the aisle, but sadly when allergies get in the way, options are limited. I've talked with several brides who are facing the dilemma of finding a chic alternative either for a bridesmaid, their groom or for their own bouquet. We stumbled upon these gorgeous handmade bouquets from BHLDN and are in love with this alternative idea!  Who would have thought that colored tissue and crepe paper, card stock, floral tape and wire could make such beautiful florals?!

Vintage handkerchief inspiration

This Wedding Wednesday, we're pretty pumped to share some vintage hanky inspiration! This is such a fun way to incorporate lots of colors and patterns to achieve a soft, vintage elegant ambiance for the big day. These are super easy to find and can be very inexpensive too... antique shops, Goodwill, and {of course} Etsy will have a great variety. Let the inspiration begin with this adorable hanky garland that you can easily DIY...

{via}

This ring bearer pillow is adorable and would be super easy to make yourself to add another sentimental punch!

{via}

A hanky table runner?! If this isn't done at a wedding, this would be such a sweet idea for a shower or dinner with friends!

{via}

And although we're suckers for custom design, if you have your heart set on making your own Save the Dates, this idea we spotted on Wedding Chicks is pretty epic for a vintage wedding...

Get the DIY here...have fun!

Wedding whimsy

With pastels being one of the top 5 fashion trends of spring 2012, we've been encountering pastels left and right lately. It got us thinking, and as we've been perusing other blogs and Pinterest for inspiration, our suspicions were confirmed that an all-pastel wedding might just create the perfect romantic & whimsical feeling. Imagine pulling together all your favorite colors- in their softest tones of course, and accenting with warm, glowing lights, flowing fabrics, and deliciously coordinating treats...

{Clockwise from top left: via/ via/ via/ via/ via/ via}

Indeed, a recipe for some soft & timeless wedding whimsy!

This one's for the girls

Today we're on the topic of bridesmaids dresses. Yes, choosing those frocks and keeping everyone happy can be quite the feat, but there are so many cute options out there! One of our absolute favorite places to shop for the ladies is at Bella Bridesmaid. And if you're in the New England area, you're in for a treat because the staff at the Boston location is full of ahhh-mazing gals. Love Lane is one of the latest lines to join the Bella Bridesmaid collection and oh heavens, it's making us search for excuses to acquire one of these dresses!!

{via}

So fun, right? We're just trying to not drool over the long, green Tori dress {which also comes in short lengths}. Oh it doesn't stop there because they also just started to carry the super flowy, elegant, easy to wear dresses from Joanna August. These too, are dresses that you would be dying to wear again!

{via}

Can you handle this gorgeousness?! Who wants go to try on dresses today???? Which one would you choose?

Pretty Inviting: Becca & Dan

Today we're so excited to share Becca & Dan's invitation suite that is best defined as 'preppy elegance'. It also happens to involve one of our favorite color combinations right now: navy and fairway green. OH HEAVENS! Just the other day I met with a bride who has some amazing plans up her sleeve with this pantone pair and hearing of her sweet, nautical details just made me giddy!

I digress. Designing this suite with Becca and Dan was such a fun process! The combination of fonts and mix of patterns added just enough variation to keep things formal but still playful. Oh and can I just say, we're still swooning over the green linen paper backing on the invite?! The perfect 'cherry on top'!

Take a seat

If you've read our blog before, you probably know that Emily and I {Anna} go through varying phases of obsessions. We like to consider these obsessions of the healthy variety {is that possible?!} solely because they are usually with things or concepts that inspire us. The latest obsession besides Repetto shoes? Colored chairs. OMG.

{From top left: via/ via/ via/ via/ via/ via}

Though it's probably not the most budget friendly, we're dying over these wedding chairs that add such funky pops of color to the ceremony or table setting! A more cost effective option is to add a chair adornment like ribbons, sashes, place cards {yes, on the chairs} or chair covers. Either way, making those chairs stand out is a great way to wow your guests and make them feel special... not to mention that it opens the door to making a bold statement with the ambience regardless of the wedding theme or color palette.

What color {or combination of colors} would you have at your wedding?

Wedding Inspiration: Fiery Ombre

Yes, Valentine's Day has long passed but we're still obsessing over the monochromatic wedding color palette of pinks, reds and purple. How great is it that these warm to cool ombre tones are no longer solely associated with that one day each year, but yet when put together they create a firey, romantic glow that would be perfect for the big day. And the best part? While there's without a doubt a romantic vibe, things are still light and fun... not over the top! What do you think- would you ever consider this palette {or an ombre spin on your own palette} for your wedding?

Pretty Inviting: Emily & Justin

We wanted to take this Wedding Wednesday opportunity to share a recent invitation suite that we created for a sweet couple, Emily and Justin. Working with these two was just a blast... in Emily we found a bride to be who loved paper & design every bit as much as we do! Every stage of the custom process was so much fun- from the start of their letterpress invitation suite design, to designing the coordinating accessories and finally, the keepsakes for their wedding. This invitation suite perfectly captured the elegance of their vineyard wedding that would take place at Saltwater Farm Vineyard, in Stonington, CT. Emily's color palette of purplish-blue and silver beautifully complimented the vineyard inspired designs on this double thick, double letterpressed invitation suite. We're still just giddy over how these turned out... and they perfectly set the tone for a wedding was nothing short of breathtaking! Happily ever after

Over the long weekend, something amazing happened. One of our dear friends found the wedding gown of her dreams... and can we just say that AMAZING doesn't even begin to describe how stunning she looks in this dress?! Yes, our blushing bride to be is beaming with joy and though the details of said gown are behind sealed lips, it's no secret that she'll be sporting TOMS on the big day. Now that the dress has been found, we're left with one more important question... will she wear white TOMS or rock that "something blue" on her feet?

{via}

The TOMS wedding line has plenty of options ranging from pale shades of grosgrain to glittery silver or blue... thankfully we're not the ones deciding because it might require a shoe change every hour just to fit all the pretty colors in. Either way, not only will the bride have some pretty awesome {and super comfortable} wedding shoes, but it's yet another reason to support the TOMS Movement. And that friends, is quite a way to start "happily ever after".
