Go for the gold

With the Olympics in full swing, we've got gold on the mind. Whether it's gold metals or gold stilettos, the more gold the better, right? Gladly, we've been spotting lots of shimmery and shiny, pointy toed shoes these days, and they make for the perfect summer-to-fall transition for any ensemble... don't you agree?! Which pair would you choose?

London Bound

London, London, London!! With so much buzz happening about London these days we couldn't help but think that the city would make a perfect Honeymoon Hotspot! Two places that we are head over heels for are the Corinthia and Boundary. In London, location is key and the Corinthia is right in the heart of the city. That fact alone makes it a coveted place to stay. With it's Victorian exterior and regal interiors it is the epitome of modern sophistication, you can't help but feel as if you are part of the royal family when you're here.

{via}

If you're looking for something a little more unique, the Boundary might just be it. Having recently opened in 2008 it has already made a name for itself. The building consists of three restaurants and bars, 12 individually designed guest bedrooms, plus five suites; a small British food store; and a bakery. What else could you possibly want?? What I love about this place is that each guest room was inspired by a different designer or design movement (12 in total), such as Charles and Ray Eames and the Bauhaus. You can't help but feel inspired when here, and with so many different options which designer themed room would you pick?

{via}

With so many things to see and do in London it's hard to name just a couple, but here are a few of my favorites. Obviously go see the Crown Jewels, diamonds are a girls best friend. Wander over to Buckingham Palace to see the Queen (you know you want to take a picture with the guards so go for it) and then head over to Hyde park for a low-key afternoon. If you're looking to get some shopping in Spitafields famous market is a must, or wander over to Chesire Street for an afternoon of exploring eclectic boutiques for local goods and vintage finds. If museum hopping is more your thing the Tate Modern, National Gallery, and White Cube are a few favorites.

What would be at the top of your list to see or do in London?? Cheers!!

Friday Faves

Happy Friday!! In honor of the weekend, we figured it's only appropriate to round up a couple of our favorite ideas that we stumbled upon this week and pay tribute to the other creative minds that inspire us! Soooooo, here goes:

1. Throw some sequins into a clear vase with water to fancify a centerpiece!

{via}

2. Sip on some Sparkling Strawberry Sangria

{via}

3. Try a different mode of transportation

Have a pretty weekend!! xo

Citrus Chic

When it comes to handbags, it's next to impossible to have too many. Riiiiight? :) Well, just in case you're in the market for a new bag, you have GOT to check out Brahmin. After stumbling upon & drooling over their site a couple of months ago, my love for them has only grown stronger, proving to be as durable as the beautiful leather these bags are made of. The leather is beautiful, by the way, and overtook my senses upon stepping into their boutique in Newport, RI. Right now, we're obsessing over their Citrus Chic collection, but while you're checking them out, don't stop there... they've got a purse for every color, texture, pattern and occasion!

Oh what a joy it was to see these bags in person! They are every bit as stunning as you might think. Happy Thursday Purseday!!

A pop of raspberry

I recently met with a bride & groom who were using raspberry as their primary wedding color. As we started talking through ideas for how to incorporate this vibrant pop of color, I fell in love with the elegance and sophisticated contrast with black tuxes and a frothy white gown. Whether you have a simple 3-color palette as theirs or rope in yellow, teal or other berry shades, raspberry is proving to be one of our favorite wedding colors right now!!

Ribbons + bows + funky flats

We've been adoring and obsessing over the adorable wooden soles and ribboned straps of Mohop shoes for over a year now. There are so many unique ways to work these sandals- it's rare that two ladies could have the same pair or would have them tied the same way. So naturally, we're pumped to find out that there are now flats available from their collection! Imagine our delight to learn that our little feet can still sport these while traipsing around the city day by day!! This is just barely the tip of the iceberg of possibility that Mohop allows... so fun, right?!

Alexander Girard

Early this summer when I found out that Herman Miller was releasing five re-edition textiles and an extensive vintage collection by the iconic designer, Alexander Girard, I could not have been more excited and wanted to share the good news!! The name may not be familiar but his work definitely is.  In recent years you could have seen his designs pop-up anywhere from Kate Spade bags, Urban Outfitter collections to Jonathan Adler wallpaper. His bold and playful use of color, geometry and graphics bring warmth, charm and humor into any living space. His prints and textiles may have been created during the 50's, 60's and 70’s, but they fit perfectly into the modern home today.  They are definitely inspiring us to go a little retro today!

Would you rock these retro designs in your home?

Let the games begin!

Tonight is going to be epic. Yes, it's the opening ceremonies for the Summer 2012 Olympics... and it's going to be AWESOME!!! Are you going to watch? Of all the things that inspire us, the Olympics are up there on the list... there is something so magical about seeing hard work, discipline and determination pay off, and there is such a distinct art to each competition!

Whether you'll be joining us in viewing the ceremonies or not, we hope you have a super fabulous weekend!

Chanel nesting purse

Happy Thursday, lovelies! Is it just me or is this week FLYING by? Tuesday's shoesday pick reminded us of this Chanel Nesting Doll purse that we saw long ago, so naturally, why stop at one Matroyshka post when they're so stinkin' cute? We can't help but wonder what prompted Christian Louboutin to design this little purse for Chanel's 2009 fall collection...

{via}

So this got us looking around at some of the other nesting dolls that people are creating these days. It seems that there's one for everything and that's kind of awesome. Who knew that this Russian tradition would become such a unique art form around the world? Take a peek at some of our favorite finds...

1- Chalkboard Nesting Dolls

2- Owl Nesting Dolls

3- Circus Nesting Dolls

4- Northern Maiden Nesting Dolls

5- Robot Nesting Dolls

6- Geometric Nesting Dolls

7- Ninja Nesting Dolls

8- Maneki Neko Nesting Dolls

Anemone love

Every so often we start majorly crushing on a type of flower. There are always our classic faves- peonies, ranunculus and lilies, but right now we're just adoring the playful look of anemones! How can you not just love these little guys?

Would you consider using anemones for your big day??

Matryoshka Shoes?!

Sometimes it's good {and necessary} to think outside the box, right? Well apparently some designers were challenged to look to other cultures for their inspiration this season. Prime example? These shoes by Charlotte Olympia which were inspired by Russian nesting dolls, AKA Matryoshka dolls.

{via}

Yes, there is even a little wooden face peeking out in the circles of black suede that mimic the cylindric shape of the doll. So this begs the question... what do YOU think?! Would you ever wear them for a playful & cultural fashion statement or are these just plain trying too hard ?!

Hideaway in Santorini

On this happy Monday we are excited to bring you the first of several Honeymoon Hotspot features!! I (Paper Moss intern, Lyndse) personally love architecture, design and travel. So what better way to combine all of these than to provide some truly amazing destination getaways for your viewing pleasure. Santorini, Greece with its surreal landscape and relaxed vibe is definitely a place worth dreaming about, and so is the Perivolas Hotel.  This tranquil getaway outside of Oia sits high up on a cliff overlooking the Aegean Sea.  Really, can it get any better??  The traditional rock carved rooms and whitewashed walls give you a taste of the local architecture and it seems only appropriate with its long-standing history in Greece, that lavender be the color of choice to brighten up each room.  Also on site are their infinity pool, restaurant and wellness studio. Yes please!  Needless to say, the location provides breathtaking views day and night.

(And if you truly want to escape everything, their companion hotel Perivolas Hideaway is so secluded that it is only accessible by boat.  You truly will feel as if you are the only ones around. Just be warned, you may never want to leave.)

{via}

While there you might also want to try these fun activities around the island:

Spend an evening at the open air cinema in Kamari, visit Santo Winery and enjoy tasting the local grapes (they even host weddings), take a day to explore the local cities Oia and Fiori, and of course you can’t visit Greece without going to the beach.  To catch some rays head to Perissa or Vlychada beach, and if you’re up for a little adrenaline kick, Amoudi Bay offers great spots for cliff jumping.

Or just put your feet up, frappe in hand and take in the view. Would you consider Santorini for your Honeymoon Hotspot??  Happy Honeymooning!

The Catalyst

We’ve been loving the chevron craze that has been happening and just can’t get enough of a good thing! We find ourselves always looking for an excuse to use it and these fun takes on bringing the pattern into the home are inspiring us to rethink the classic in a whole new way. I wish I had the chance to do some home DIY projects right now because I just adore this simple idea of using tile to spice up the inner workings of the kitchen. And who knew wood floors would look so great in chevron?

{via, via}

One of my personal favorites though, is the new rug ‘Catalyst’ from the Celerie Kemble collection by Merida.  Its fresh new take on the pattern is perfect for livening up any room.  Plus it comes in so many fabulous colors. Perhaps one for each room in the house?

Would you sport chevron as a home decor trend in your space?

This one's for the kiddos

Who'd have thought that of all of the beautiful Marni bags in existance, we'd be captivated by this one...?

{via}

Truly, it makes us smile that Marni supports children with the project “Children’s Imaginary World”. Though it's a bit different than what we'd usually be toting, one side of this bag features a drawing from a child in an underprivileged community in South America and/or East Asia. This is just one bag in their collection, of which the proceeds benefit humanitarian programs in these communities.

Makes it a little easier to justify spending $300 on a tote bag, doesn't it?

Put a bow on it!

It wasn't always this way, but in the last few years we've developed a fascination with bow ties. This isn't a look that just any dude can pull off, no, this takes boldness, sophistication... and possibly even a dash of hipster...? Being a Seattle native {let's be honest} the majority of bow ties we see being sported as of late are of the hipster variety. Well, great news for preps, hipsters and grinning grooms alike, we've found Forage, that has our absolute favorite selection of such ties... and we couldn't resist sharing!!

Among many other "finds" at the National Stationery Show, we keep thinking about their clever display and playful fabrics. We just can't get enough! Wouldn't these be adorable on a group of groomsmen?!

Sperry nice!

Our love for Sperry Top-siders started years ago and like any good love story, our bond and appreciation gets stronger with the years. Yes, my first pair may have been gold, but they are so stinking comfortable, that I am about to buy my mom a pair and shortly there after, pick up a pair for grandma. If you haven't jumped on the Sperry train yet, I urge you: DO IT!! While on the topic, I must say that we're digging their more dressy & sophisticated collection of wedges right now. Bravo to whoever thought of branching out with these stylish and oh-so-comforable kicks... someone got a raise for that! So without further adieu, here are a couple of our current faves...

Reason to celebrate

Oh HAPPY MONDAY! Today, we're just grinning from ear to ear {and blushing a bit too} because there's been some Paper Moss in the press lately! Oh goodness!! We just couldn't be more excited to share these features and shout-outs from some of our favorite local and national wedding magazines. Thank you, THANK YOU for sharing in this giddiness with us! Of course, they're much prettier on the glossy printed pages, but this will do for now... :)

SLW.jpg

We loved working with Courtney & Anderson on the day of accessories for their stunning wedding at the Textile Museum. A wedding so beautiful, it captured the attention of Southern Living Weddings?! We couldn't agree more!

bostonweddings.jpg

And if you have the chance, please sweep up this issue of Boston Weddings Magazine... packed full of chic inspiration for all things pink & wedding related. Tijana & Tyler's Coco Chanel inspired invitation suite worked perfectly with the rest of the spread and we're still swooning over some of the ideas on those pages!

knotsummer2012.jpg

And last but not least, we just can't stop loving The Knot and are flattered to have Cailin & Ezra's letterpress invitation suite featured in the national Summer 2012 issue!! Granted, those french macarons are vying for our attention, but the delicate details of inspiration on this page are unreal!!! :)

Thanks for celebrating with us!!! xoxo

A little weekend project

Recently, we were brainstorming some unique escort card ideas with a client, and we came across these super cute textured pots over on Urban Comfort. How cute would these be for shower decorations, center pieces, or in our client's case, little pot holders for their planted herb escort-card-and-favor in one?! We think they're so stinkin' cute in fact, that this little project is going to make our weekend to-do list. Are you with us?!
